Sharjah International Conservation Forum Gears Up for 23rd Edition

Sharjah, The Gulf Observer: The Environment and Protected Areas Authority in Sharjah (EPAA) has completed extensive preparations for the 23rd edition of the Sharjah International Conservation Forum for Arabia’s Biodiversity. The event, scheduled for February 5th to February 8th, will be held for the second consecutive year at Sharjah Safari in Al Dhaid city.

With the participation of over 100 experts and researchers specializing in environmental and biodiversity fields from around the world, the forum aims to shed light on pressing environmental issues through enriching sessions.

Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, Chairperson of the Environment and Protected Areas Authority in Sharjah, emphasized the significance of the forum in reinforcing the goals and message of the EPAA in preserving the environment and sustaining biodiversity. Al Suwaidi highlighted the authority’s commitment to harnessing ideas and visions, investing resources and efforts, and promoting the best environmental practices at both institutional and individual levels.

“The Sharjah International Conservation Forum for Arabia’s Biodiversity reaffirms our constant pursuit of translating the directives of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, towards preserving the environment and its components,” stated Al Suwaidi.

The forum’s organizing committee has meticulously prepared diverse environmental topics for discussion during morning and evening sessions. Researchers and specialists will present the results of their studies and address key areas, including species prioritization, rewilding, multi-species reintroductions, conservation genetics, and a comprehensive review of the achievements of the Sharjah Strandings Response Programme, with a primary focus on veterinary sessions.

The annual forum is a testament to EPAA’s commitment to environmental preservation and biodiversity, aligning with the vision of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi to safeguard the diverse ecosystems within Sharjah.
