Shavkat Mirziyoyev Addresses International Forum in Ashgabat

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: In a heartfelt address at the International Forum “Interrelation of Times and Civilizations – Basis of Peace and Development” held in Ashgabat, Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, for their warm welcome and for organizing the event at a high level.
Emphasizing the current unstable global situation, he praised Turkmenistan’s commitment to elevating literature and enlightenment as key components of state policy, transforming them into effective tools for peaceful dialogue on the international stage. He expressed confidence that the conference would serve as a vital step in strengthening the bond between the peoples of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, while promoting their rich spiritual heritage globally.
The leader highlighted the significant contributions of ancient Turkmenistan to science, culture, and art, recalling the great figures of the Turkmen people, including renowned poets and thinkers such as Azadi, Andalīb, Sheydai, Goibi, and Mulla-Nafas. He particularly noted the legacy of Magtymguly Fragi, whose 300th anniversary is being celebrated under UNESCO’s auspices. The speaker praised Fragi’s immortal literary works, which champion universal values of peace, harmony, kindness, and justice, encapsulated in his noble idea that “kindness, friendship, cooperation, compassion, and humaneness shall save the world.”
Reflecting on the shared cultural appreciation for Magtymguly Fragi, the leader mentioned the poet’s educational journey at the Shergazi-khan madrassah in Khiva and his admiration for the great Uzbek poet Alisher Navoi. He highlighted the enduring presence of Magtymguly’s poetry in Uzbekistan, reinforcing the historic bonds between the two nations.
In honor of the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi, Uzbekistan has initiated various celebrations, including literary evenings, contests, and the production of joint films about the poet, as well as the dedication of streets and monuments in his name.
The address also recognized the establishment of the majestic memorial complex “Magtymguly Fragi” in Turkmenistan as a symbol of wisdom and tolerance, reflecting the brotherly spirit of the Turkmen people. The leader commended Turkmenistan’s visionary policy and positive neutrality, which have contributed to its achievements over the past 30 years in strengthening statehood and enhancing the well-being of its citizens.
The Uzbekistan leader expressed support for the United Nations General Assembly’s declaration of the upcoming year as the International Year of Peace and Trust, initiated by Turkmenistan, and looked forward to the international summit scheduled for December next year in Ashgabat.
Concluding his remarks, he invoked the words of Magtymguly Fragi, wishing for the eternal prosperity of Turkmenistan, a nation that has given the world remarkable figures. He called for lasting peace and tranquility in both countries, affirming the strength of their friendship.
