Shehbaz Sharif and Iranian Foreign Minister Discuss Bilateral Relations and Middle East Crisis
Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi met with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad today during his first official visit to Pakistan in his new role.
Prime Minister Sharif warmly welcomed Foreign Minister Araghchi, extending his sincere regards to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei and President Massoud Pezeshkian. Highlighting the longstanding brotherly ties between Pakistan and Iran, the Prime Minister emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to deepening collaboration across shared interests through regular high-level exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation.
The meeting also addressed the escalating humanitarian crisis in the Middle East. Prime Minister Sharif expressed grave concern over Israel’s ongoing actions in Gaza, condemning what he described as a “genocidal campaign” against the Palestinian people. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s unequivocal support for the Palestinian right to self-determination and statehood and called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. Stressing the urgent need for unrestricted humanitarian aid, he underscored the importance of honoring UN and OIC resolutions that safeguard Palestinian rights.
Prime Minister Sharif also condemned Israel’s recent attack on Iran, reiterating Pakistan’s strong support for Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In response, Foreign Minister Araghchi expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s consistent stance on the crisis, offering insights into Iran’s perspective on the regional situation.
