Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Chairs BRICS Steering Committee Meeting, Highlights UAE’s Commitment to Multilateral Cooperation

Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, chaired a BRICS Steering Committee meeting via video conference, with the participation of ministers, senior officials, and representatives of national entities engaged in the group’s activities.
The meeting reviewed the latest developments concerning the United Arab Emirates’ engagement with the BRICS group and explored avenues to enhance the country’s participation while ensuring optimal coordination among all relevant national stakeholders.
H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed underscored the importance of intensifying and aligning efforts across various governmental entities to secure an effective and impactful UAE presence within BRICS. He emphasized that such collaboration should reflect the UAE’s global stature and its principled commitment to strengthening multilateral cooperation with key international partners.
A key highlight of the meeting was a comprehensive presentation by Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, Assistant Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the UAE’s Sherpa to BRICS. His presentation detailed recent updates on the UAE’s engagement in the group and outlined the nation’s strategic priorities in contributing to the BRICS agenda.
Participants also discussed the roles of national entities and proposed initiatives to reinforce UAE involvement in the diverse workstreams of BRICS, which include economics and finance, energy and transport, climate and agriculture, science and technology, justice, health, culture, and sports.
Preparatory discussions were also held regarding the upcoming BRICS Summit, scheduled to take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from July 6 to 7, 2025.
