Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Environmental Award 2023 Winners Honored in Prestigious Ceremony

Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD), bestowed honors upon the distinguished winners of the inaugural Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Environmental Award 2023. The prestigious ceremony took place at Al Nakheel Palace in Abu Dhabi, attended by esteemed dignitaries, officials, and participants.

The event welcomed notable attendees, including Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak Al Shamsi (Minister of Climate Change and the Environment), Mohamed Ahmed Al Bowardi (EAD’s Vice Chairman), Eng. Awaidha Murshed Ali Al Marar (Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy), Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak (Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Abu Dhabi), Staff Major General Pilot Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei (Abu Dhabi Police Commander-in-Chief), Mansour Ibrahim Al Mansouri (Chairman of Department of Health – Abu Dhabi), and Ahmed Jasim Al Zaabi (Chairman of Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development), among others.

The ceremony commenced with an insightful video presentation about the award, followed by Sheikh Hamdan’s recognition of the 18 winners for their outstanding contributions and achievements in the field of environmental excellence.

In his address, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan emphasized the emirate of Abu Dhabi’s commitment to following the environmental protection approach pioneered by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. He highlighted the award’s crucial role in fostering sustainable development, supporting innovative ideas, and acknowledging projects dedicated to environmental conservation and sustainability.

Sheikh Hamdan praised the award for stimulating excellence and creativity in environmental preservation, protection, and sustainability. He commended its role in encouraging initiatives, fostering leadership, and promoting regulatory compliance in environmental practices.

Congratulating all the winners across various award categories, His Highness called upon them to continue their exemplary work and leadership in environmental initiatives. Sheikh Hamdan expressed his hopes for increased participation in the upcoming editions of the award, with a vision to inspire society, institutions, and facilities to elevate their commitment to environmental preservation and nature conservation in the UAE.
