Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Visits 20th Liwa Date Festival
Al Dhafra, The Gulf Observer: H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, attended the 20th Liwa Date Festival, which is being held in the Al Dhafra Region and will continue until July 28, 2024.
During his visit, Sheikh Hamdan emphasized the festival’s significance in showcasing the historical importance of date palms, preserving cultural heritage, and promoting sustainable development and food security. He highlighted the event’s role in supporting these vital areas through its various activities and exhibitions.
Sheikh Hamdan toured the festival’s pavilions, which feature a range of heritage activities and competitions for date farmers and producers. The festival, organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, aims to celebrate and protect the UAE’s rich cultural heritage.
Sheikh Hamdan commended the efforts of the organizers and the active involvement of both public and private sector entities in the festival. He acknowledged their contributions to preserving the UAE’s intangible heritage and ensuring the success of the event.
A number of officials accompanied Sheikh Hamdan during his visit, reflecting the high level of support and interest in the festival’s initiatives.
