Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoon Attends Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Sharjah
Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoon bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Court, attended the third round of the Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship (No-Gi), organized by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation at Al Bait Metwahed in Sharjah, from 27th to 29th September 2024.
During the event, Sheikh Khalifa presented medals to the winners in the Masters and Adults categories, commending the athletes’ exceptional performances. He expressed pride in the growing stature of the sport in the UAE and praised the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation for its efforts to broaden the sport’s practitioner base and enhance the nation’s global standing, particularly Abu Dhabi’s role as the world capital of jiu-jitsu.
The competition is expected to draw more than 1,500 athletes over the three-day event, featuring categories such as Adults, Masters, U12, U14, U16, and Youth.
Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoon was joined by key figures including Yousef Abdullah Al Batran, Board Member of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation; Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club; and Mohamed Hussain Al Marzooqi, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications at the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation.
Abdulmunem Alsayed Mohammed Al Hashmi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, President of the Asian Jiu-Jitsu Union, and Senior Vice President of the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation, attributed the nation’s success in jiu-jitsu to the support and guidance of the UAE’s leadership. He highlighted the vital role of the sport in promoting physical health, instilling noble values, and fostering a generation of champions.
