Sindh Chief Minister Hails Ethiopian Airlines as Strategic Driver of Pakistan’s Look Africa and Engage Africa Initiatives

Karachi, The Gulf Observer: H.E. Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) to Pakistan, called on H.E. Syed Murad Ali Shah, Chief Minister of Sindh, at his office in Karachi on Tuesday to discuss avenues for enhancing bilateral cooperation.
During the meeting, both sides reviewed ongoing collaboration between Ethiopia and Pakistan across various sectors, including trade, investment, aviation, tourism, culture, and climate change. They also explored potential new areas of partnership, particularly in agriculture and agro-processing, education, and health, aimed at strengthening bilateral ties.
Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker commended the Chief Minister’s recent initiative to host a high-level Ethiopian delegation for a Green Dialogue at the Chief Minister Sindh House, noting that the visit plays a pivotal role in formalizing joint efforts to combat climate change. He also briefed the Chief Minister on preparations in Addis Ababa for Pakistan’s Single Country Exhibition scheduled for October, which will host a large number of delegates.
Both leaders acknowledged the growing connectivity between Pakistan and Africa facilitated by Ethiopian Airlines, highlighting its role in Pakistan’s Look Africa and Engage Africa policies. Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah described the carrier as a “game-changer” for Pakistan-Africa relations and praised Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker for his effective role in strengthening bilateral ties.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed his commitment to further enhancing cooperation, aiming to elevate the relationship between Pakistan and Ethiopia to a higher level.
Mr. Ibrahim Khalid Tawab, Honorary Consul of the FDRE in Karachi, was also present during the meeting.
