SMARTER Brunei E.D.G.E Centre Launches Digital Education Initiative for Autistic Children

Bandar Seri Begawan, The Gulf Observer: SMARTER Brunei E.D.G.E Centre celebrated a significant milestone on Tuesday with the launch of its Digital Education Initiative for Autistic Children at its premises in Kampong Mata-Mata. The event was officiated by Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Transport and Info-Communications, Mohammad Nazri bin Mohammad Yusof, who served as the guest of honour.

Codenamed “Embrace Differences”, the initiative was developed by Group NurRheiya under the Community Outreach Programme of the 31st Executive Development Programme for Senior Government Officers (EDPSGO), organized by the Civil Service Institute. This project demonstrates a strong commitment to fostering inclusivity, innovation, and sustainability in education for the autistic community in Brunei Darussalam.

The initiative introduces a tailored digital education platform designed to enhance the academic, social, and communication skills of autistic children, while also empowering parents and teachers with the necessary tools to support their development.

In his speech, Mohammad Nazri bin Mohammad Yusof praised the collaborative effort between the government, academia, and industry in delivering innovative and sustainable solutions for autistic children. He highlighted how the initiative aligns with the Digital Economy Masterplan 2025, which prioritizes inclusivity and aims to foster a thriving digital society.

He also commended Group NurRheiya for their significant contributions in planning and executing the initiative, expressing hope for the continuity of similar impactful projects in the future.

This launch marks a pivotal step toward inclusive education, empowering the autistic community and promoting a more inclusive society in Brunei Darussalam.
