A view of winter - Jabal Shams

Muscat, The Gulf Observer: Oman’s Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT) is set to host the Sohar Nights Winter Camp from January 10 to 14, as part of initiatives to boost winter tourism and support domestic travel.

The event, situated in the scenic Al Rifaa area of Sohar, North Batinah, aligns with the governorate’s appeal for outdoor activities during the winter season from October to April. Recognizing the allure of North Batinah’s desert landscape, organizers anticipate a surge in visitors, offering activities such as camel riding, desert crossings, and camping.

The winter camp, featuring theatre performances, camping equipment displays, food trucks, and various competitions, aims to create a cultural and recreational space while showcasing the tourism potential of Sohar. Additionally, the event seeks to promote the Omani cottage industry, emphasizing local products and fostering the culture of camping.

Events at the camp will unfold from 4:30 pm to 12 am, providing a vibrant experience for both citizens and residents.
