Solidarity Forum of OTS Member States’ NGOs Continues in Nakhchivan

Baku, The Gulf Observer: The Solidarity Forum of NGOs from the Member Countries of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), which opened yesterday in Baku, continued its sessions on Wednesday in Nakhchivan, bringing together representatives from across the Turkic world to strengthen cooperation among civil society institutions.
In her opening remarks, Aygun Aliyeva, Executive Director of the Agency for State Support to NGOs of Azerbaijan, underscored the growing significance of the forum. She noted that collaborative projects with Turkic states have increasingly become a consistent and important tradition, reflecting the shared commitment to advancing regional solidarity.
Addressing the participants, Jeyhun Jalilov, Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, emphasized the symbolic value of hosting the event in Nakhchivan — the city where the historic “Nakhchivan Agreement” was signed in 2009, laying the foundation for the modern Organization of Turkic States.
Tural Aliyev, head of the NGO affairs sector at the Department for Work with NGOs and Communication of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan, highlighted the historic nature of the gathering.
“For the first time, NGOs from the member countries of the Organization of Turkic States are uniting on a single platform here on the ancient land of Nakhchivan. This is a proud and historic day for the entire Turkic world,” he said. “Through our joint efforts, we must ensure that bilateral and multilateral grant competitions in fields such as history, culture, ecology, climate policy, and other key areas gain strong momentum among Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Hungary, and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.”
The forum continued with a series of panel discussions focused on enhancing cooperation, supporting innovative initiatives, and expanding the role of NGOs in addressing regional challenges.
The event is expected to further strengthen institutional ties among Turkic states and promote deeper engagement of civil society in shaping the region’s shared future.
