Speaker of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan Meets President of Uzbekistan During IPU Assembly

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: Speaker of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, Dunyagozel Gulmanova, met with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Tashkent as part of her official visit to participate in the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the press service of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan reported on Monday.
The meeting was attended by heads of parliaments from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan, reflecting the growing emphasis on regional parliamentary cooperation in Central Asia. On behalf of Turkmenistan, Speaker Gulmanova conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to President Mirziyoyev.
Discussions during the meeting focused on the current state of regional collaboration and the increasingly important role of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening bilateral and multilateral relations. The participants highlighted the deep historical and cultural connections between the Turkmen and Uzbek peoples and emphasized the value of humanitarian and interregional initiatives in enhancing ties.
Both sides reaffirmed that the robust development of Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan relations is rooted in principles of mutual respect, trust, and equal partnership.
As part of her working program in Tashkent, Speaker Gulmanova also held a separate bilateral meeting with the Chairman of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Nuriddin Ismailov. The meeting underscored the shared commitment to expanding inter-parliamentary dialogue and cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
