Sri Lankan President Expresses Gratitude to PM Shehbaz Sharif for Facilitating Pakistan–India T20 World Cup Match

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has expressed heartfelt gratitude to Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for his role in ensuring the Pakistan–India match in the ICC T20 World Cup proceeds as scheduled.
According to officials, President Dissanayake personally contacted Prime Minister Sharif, requesting support to facilitate the high-profile fixture. Pakistan accepted the request, a move described as decisive in keeping the much-anticipated encounter on track.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board also made a similar request to Pakistan. BCB President Aminul Islam extended special thanks to Mohsin Naqvi, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, acknowledging the PCB’s full cooperation in resolving the matter.
President Dissanayake said he appreciated Prime Minister Sharif’s contribution to sustaining a sport loved across the region. “We thank Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for playing a role in ensuring the continuity of the game we all cherish,” he said.
He further welcomed confirmation that the Pakistan–India match scheduled in Colombo would take place as planned.
Pakistan and India are set to face each other in the ICC T20 World Cup on February 15, a fixture regarded as one of the tournament’s marquee encounters.
