Sultan Haitham Meets Shura Council Leadership, Emphasises National Partnership and Development
Muscat, The Gulf Observer: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik met on Thursday at Al Barakah Palace with the Chairman of the Shura Council and members of the Shura Council Office.
At the outset of the meeting, His Majesty praised Allah for His blessings and abundance bestowed upon Oman, its loyal people and residents. He prayed to Allah the Almighty to grant continued prosperity to the Sultanate, to bless everyone with health and well-being, and to crown all sincere efforts with success and guidance.
His Majesty commended the Shura Council for the progress it has achieved, its working mechanisms, and the growing effectiveness it has demonstrated in fulfilling its roles. He noted that this progress contributes to strengthening national participation and aligns with the requirements of comprehensive development. The Sultan stressed the importance of the views and proposals put forward by the Shura Council in advancing national efforts and supporting the state’s strategic directions in a manner that serves the interests of the nation and its citizens.
His Majesty expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation between the government and the Shura Council, describing the Council as a fundamental partner within the state’s institutional framework. He noted that the Basic Law of the State and the Council of Oman Law have granted the Shura Council broad powers to enable it to carry out its mandated objectives effectively.
The Sultan emphasised the need to further enhance this collaborative partnership through unified teamwork and by seeking common ground, placing the interests of the nation and its citizens above all other considerations. He also underscored the importance of the Shura Council fulfilling its expected role in raising public awareness of existing challenges, as well as medium- and long-term goals, and the measures and decisions taken to achieve them. In this context, His Majesty stressed the necessity of safeguarding the national achievements and gains attained so far.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Hamad bin Said Al Aufi, Head of the Private Office; Sheikh Al Fadhl bin Mohammed Al Harthy, Secretary General of the Council of Ministers; and Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Saeedi, Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs.
