Sultan of Oman Initiates Oman Cultural Complex Project with Foundation Stone Ceremony
Muscat, The Gulf Observer: Today, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik presided over a momentous ceremony to lay the foundation stone of the Oman Cultural Complex project and the construction of the National Records and Archives Authority (NRAA) at the Airport Heights in Muscat Governorate.
Upon his arrival at the project’s site, His Majesty was warmly received by HH Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, and Chairman of the Founding Committee of Oman Cultural Complex Project, along with Dr. Hamad bin Mohammed Al Dhoyani, NRAA Chairman.
During the visit, His Majesty reviewed the designs of the Oman Cultural Complex building, presented in showcases that highlighted the project’s various components. The initiative reflects His Majesty’s vision to establish a state-of-the-art cultural destination, a civilizational accomplishment, and a scholarly and institutional edifice contributing to Oman’s blessed renaissance.
A visual presentation on the project was followed by a briefing on the building’s innovative model. The Oman Cultural Complex, spanning approximately 80,200 square meters on a 400,000-square-meter land plot and costing OMR 147.8 million, will house several institutions and facilities, including the National Library, the National Theatre, Children’s Public Library, the House of Arts, the House of Cinema, the Literary Forum, and the National Records and Archives Authority. Additionally, it will feature restaurants, cafeterias, and a public park.
His Majesty then laid the cornerstone, marking the commencement of the construction of Oman Cultural Complex. The complex aims to promote cultural, literary, theatrical, and research activities, expanding the scope of engagement in highlighting Oman’s rich cultural heritage and showcasing the country’s accomplishments. It will offer services to scholars and researchers and organize cultural events and programs focused on Oman’s history and cultural identity.
The ceremony was attended by members of the Royal Family, ministers, and senior officials, emphasizing the importance and commitment of Oman to advancing cultural development and preserving its unique heritage.
