Sultan of Oman Presides Over Military Parade on Oman’s 54th National Day
Muscat, The Gulf Observer: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Supreme Commander, presided over a grand military parade on Monday at Al Sumoud Ground of the Sultan’s Special Force, marking the 54th Glorious National Day of the Sultanate of Oman.
The parade featured symbolic units representing the Royal Army of Oman (RAO), the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO), the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO), the Royal Guard of Oman (RGO), the Sultan’s Special Force (SSF), and the Royal Oman Police (ROP). Accompanying the formations were ground and mounted military music bands.
Upon his arrival, His Majesty was received by HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, Gen. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Nu’amani, Minister of the Royal Office, Vice Admiral Abdullah bin Khamis Al Ra’eesi, Chief of Staff of the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF), and Maj. Gen. Musallam bin Mohammed Jaaboub, Commander of the Sultan’s Special Force.
As His Majesty ascended the Royal Dais, the parade formations rendered a military salute, accompanied by the Royal Anthem and a 21-gun salute by the Sultan of Oman’s Artillery. The parade commander then approached the Royal Dais to request His Majesty to signal the commencement of the military display.
The joint corps of military music bands from the SAF, the RGO, the ROP, and the Royal Court Affairs performed a series of ceremonial tunes while marching past the Royal Dais in both slow and regular paces. Columns of the Protocols Guard later joined the parade, presenting ceremonial gestures to the accompaniment of patriotic melodies.
A highlight of the event was a musical display by mounted bands of the RGO cavalry and the Royal Cavalry, who saluted His Majesty as they passed the Royal Dais. The parade concluded with chants of “Faith in Allah, Loyalty to the Sultan, Sacrifice for the Nation,” followed by a thrice-repeated proclamation of “Long Live His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Supreme Commander.”
The event concluded with the military bands performing the Royal Anthem and the parade formations rendering a final salute.
Attendees included members of the Royal family, Al Busaidi sayyids, ministers, advisers, senior military and security commanders, members of the State Council and Shura Council, foreign diplomats, and citizens, reflecting the event’s grandeur and national significance.
