Sultan Qaboos University Rises to 8th Place in QS Arab University Rankings for 2025
Muscat, The Gulf Observer: Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) has achieved a significant milestone, advancing to the 8th position among Arab universities in the QS Rankings for 2025. Out of 271 registered Arab universities, including seven from Oman, SQU’s progress underscores its growing reputation and academic excellence in the region.
Her Highness Sayyida Dr. Muna bint Fahd Al Said, Assistant Vice Chancellor for International Cooperation and Supervisor of the Project to Enhance the University’s Position in the World University Rankings, hailed the achievement as a reflection of the university’s strategic importance among Arab countries. She emphasized the need for continued efforts and best practices to maintain and enhance Sultan Qaboos University’s global standing.
“This achievement highlights the university’s prominent role in the Arab world,” Dr. Muna said, stressing the importance of sustainability and continuous improvement in advancing the university’s position.
Dr. Tariq bin Muhiuddin bin Muhammad Ghulam, Director of the Project to Enhance the University’s Position in the World University Rankings, added that the university’s advancement confirms that its efforts are moving in the right direction. He noted that the most influential factor in this year’s ranking has been SQU’s strong communication with employers and global researchers.
Several of the university’s indicators saw notable improvements in the QS Arab University Rankings, including the job reputation index, the student-to-academic ratio index, and the web impact index. These advancements reflect SQU’s ongoing commitment to fostering excellence in education, research, and global collaboration.
