Sultanate of Oman to Take Center Stage as Official Partner at ITB Berlin 2024
Berlin, The Gulf Observer: The much-anticipated ITB Berlin Convention, recognized as the world’s largest tourism forum, is set to commence on Monday, bringing together global players in the travel and tourism industry. This year’s edition marks a significant partnership with the Sultanate of Oman, as the country assumes the role of an official partner for ITB Berlin 2024, scheduled to run through March 7.
The Sultanate of Oman’s collaboration with ITB Berlin underscores its dedication to fostering the growth of the tourism sector, solidifying its position as a premier global tourist destination. This strategic partnership is expected to boost Oman’s visibility on the international stage and attract increased tourism flow to the country.
Salim bin Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, will lead the Sultanate of Oman’s delegation to the ITB Berlin Convention. The delegation comprises representatives from 70 tourist companies, hotels, and enterprises, collectively aiming to showcase Oman’s diverse offerings and allure at this esteemed international forum.
Minister Al Mahrouqi expressed, “The Sultanate of Oman’s participation in this edition of ITB Berlin, as an official partner, aligns with the concerted efforts to empower the tourism sector.” He highlighted the advantages that come with being an official partner, providing a platform to showcase Oman to approximately 14 million followers through the event’s official website.
The official opening celebration, set to be attended by over 3,000 participants from 160 countries, will feature prominent tourism companies, travel sector planners, and 7,000 media representatives from international outlets. Oman’s pavilion, set to be inaugurated on March 5, will be the first to open in this grand forum, underscoring the significance of the Sultanate’s presence.
Minister Al Mahrouqi revealed that the Sultanate’s participation will include various segments showcasing Oman’s rich civilization, history, and culture. These segments will include artistic and operatic performances, providing attendees with a comprehensive insight into the Sultanate’s unique offerings.
Highlighting ongoing efforts to support the tourism sector, Minister Al Mahrouqi mentioned infrastructure investments and the implementation of numerous tourism and heritage projects. The sector’s total investments have surged to USD 7.8 billion, with over 40 projects in development, focusing on adventure tourism products, and scheduled for completion by 2025 and 2026.
The Mayor of Berlin is scheduled to inaugurate the Sultanate of Oman’s pavilion on March 5, marking the commencement of activities in this prestigious global forum.
