Switzerland and Azerbaijan Discuss Regional Security and Bilateral Cooperation in Phone Call

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Federal Councillor and Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland, Ignazio Cassis, held a telephone conversation on March 12 with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, to discuss regional security developments and bilateral cooperation.
According to an official statement from Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry, the two ministers exchanged views on a range of international and regional security issues, including the current situation in the Middle East.
Both sides emphasized that any further escalation of existing tensions would be unacceptable and stressed the importance of resolving the crisis through dialogue and diplomatic means.
During the conversation, the Swiss foreign minister also expressed solidarity with Azerbaijan regarding the drone attack carried out by Iran against the country. He further thanked Azerbaijan for its assistance in facilitating the evacuation of Swiss citizens from Iranian territory.
The ministers also discussed the current state and future prospects of Azerbaijan–Switzerland bilateral cooperation, highlighting the significance of the political consultations scheduled between the two countries’ foreign ministries in April as an important step toward strengthening diplomatic engagement.
