Tajikistan and Uzbekistan Presidents Visit Textile Facility, Emphasize Industrial Cooperation

Bukhara, The Gulf Observer: The President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, accompanied by the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, visited a major textile enterprise in Uzbekistan’s Bukhara region to review the country’s growing light industry capabilities.
The two leaders toured the Nigora factory, part of the Merganteks cotton-textile cluster, established under a $35 million investment project. The facility operates a full production cycle, encompassing the processing of raw cotton through to the manufacturing of finished fabrics and garments.
During the visit, the presidents were briefed on the factory’s operations, including its “Shoyigul” brand, whose products are primarily exported to European markets such as Italy, Austria, the United Kingdom, and Germany. The enterprise currently employs 840 workers and is equipped with advanced, high-tech machinery sourced from China, Germany, and Belgium, meeting international production standards.
Officials informed the visiting delegation that the factory has achieved an annual export volume of approximately $10 million. Plans are also underway for a second phase of expansion, which will include the production of synthetic fibers and related finished goods.
The two presidents toured the showroom and examined a range of finished products, with the Tajik delegation expressing appreciation for the high quality and competitiveness of the goods produced at the facility.
Highlighting the importance of industrial collaboration, President Rahmon and President Mirziyoyev underscored the need to strengthen partnerships between leading enterprises in both countries to boost economic integration and regional trade.
