Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: Tajikistan is set to establish the International Navruz Center, President Emomali Rahmon announced in his annual address to the Parliament, according to media reports.

President Rahmon said that rich humanistic rituals and traditions, including Navruz, constitute a unique heritage passed down from ancestors and must be studied, preserved and continued to ensure their transmission to future generations as a priceless spiritual legacy. He emphasized that Navruz is not merely a folk celebration, but an enduring philosophy embodying humanism, generational continuity and spiritual values formed over thousands of years.

“Reviving historical memory plays an important role in strengthening national identity among citizens, especially young people, who are the future of the nation and the state,” Rahmon said.

According to the president, the International Navruz Center is envisioned as a global platform to bring together scientists, researchers and cultural figures from countries where Navruz forms an integral part of historical memory and spiritual heritage. The center will promote research, dialogue and cooperation aimed at safeguarding and promoting Navruz-related traditions and values.

President Rahmon said the National Academy of Sciences, along with other research and project institutions, has been tasked with developing the concept of the International Navruz Center, with the involvement of scholars and experts from relevant fields.
