Tashkent and Shanghai Strengthen Ties with Signing of Memorandum

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: A delegation led by the Acting Mayor of Tashkent, Shavkat Umurzakov, engaged in constructive discussions with the Mayor of Shanghai, Gong Zheng. The meeting, held to enhance collaboration and deepen the longstanding friendship between Uzbekistan and China, explored avenues for cooperation and mutual development.
Mr. Umurzakov highlighted the historical ties between Uzbekistan and China and underlined the potential for strengthening the city of Tashkent through joint projects. He expressed his optimism about the future prospects of collaboration and invited Shanghai’s cooperation in various initiatives aimed at fostering development.
Mayor Gong Zheng reciprocated the enthusiasm, expressing Shanghai’s readiness to engage in collaborative efforts that would contribute to the enhancement of city governance, tourism, and increased foreign trade and investment. The Mayor emphasized the significance of studying Shanghai’s successful urban planning experience, and he expressed commitment to continued cooperation and support.
Both parties acknowledged that the partnership between Uzbekistan and China has attained a new strategic level, attributable to the strong political will and initiatives of the leadership in both nations.
The meeting delved into ongoing projects in Tashkent involving Chinese partners, reflecting the successful collaboration between the two regions. Mayor Gong Zheng pledged full support and cooperation for the proposed initiatives, aligning with the shared commitment to strengthen bilateral ties.
