Bangkok, The Gulf Observer: Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra stated on Sunday (March 9) that the deployment of security forces in Thailand’s deep South might be increased following fatal insurgent attacks on Saturday night (March 8).

Speaking to reporters after returning from her Germany visit (March 3-8), the prime minister emphasized the need to reinforce night-shift security personnel. However, she noted that a final decision would be made after consultations with security agencies.

“The number of security forces will definitely have to be increased,” Paetongtarn affirmed, highlighting that such attacks undermine public morale and necessitate enhanced security measures.

According to initial reports, three insurgent attacks occurred in Narathiwat on Saturday night, resulting in the deaths of two volunteer defense officers.
