Tô Lâm Commends Female Military Personnel for Contributions to National Defence and Fatherland Safeguarding
Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: Party General Secretary Tô Lâm on Tuesday lauded female military personnel for their important and meaningful contributions to building the armed forces, strengthening national defence, and developing and firmly safeguarding the Fatherland.
During a meeting with outstanding delegates attending the eighth congress of military women for the 2025–2030 tenure, the Party chief, who also serves as Secretary of the Central Military Commission, highlighted the long-standing and significant role of Vietnamese women throughout the history of national construction and defence. He affirmed that from past struggles to the present day, generations of Vietnamese women have demonstrated resilience, loyalty, and a readiness to sacrifice for the Fatherland.
The General Secretary noted that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Việt Nam, the Việt Nam People’s Army has grown steadily stronger, achieving glorious victories and making important contributions to national liberation, safeguarding, and development. In these achievements, he said, female military personnel have played an indispensable and meaningful role.
He expressed satisfaction with the strong, comprehensive, and effective development of women’s work and movements in the military during the 2021–2025 period, praising the courage, perseverance, and dedication shown by servicewomen across all fields of work and in daily life.
Regardless of their positions, military women have demonstrated firm political mettle, a strong sense of responsibility, professional competence, and unity, emerging as leading collectives and individuals in patriotic emulation movements, he said.
Beyond fulfilling their professional duties, the Party chief noted that military women have also excelled in their roles as wives and mothers, nurturing family happiness and serving as a solid rear support for their loved ones. Their compassion and sense of responsibility have been reflected in numerous humanitarian initiatives and frontline activities, earning admiration and trust from the public and international friends alike.
Looking ahead, he stressed the need to continue building a revolutionary, regular, elite, and modern Việt Nam People’s Army, with particular emphasis on political steadfastness, absolute loyalty to the Party, the Fatherland, and the people, professional mastery, digital skills, innovative thinking, and readiness to defend national independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, as well as the Party, the State, the people, and the socialist regime.
The General Secretary called for greater attention to fostering aspiration, creativity, and the role of women’s organisations, while urging the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defence, and relevant agencies to create favourable conditions for women to study, pursue self-improvement, and fulfil their roles both at work and at home. He also stressed the importance of identifying, nurturing, and multiplying exemplary role models.
Expressing his expectations, Tô Lâm said each woman in the military should strive to be a shining example, with their families serving as bright spots in their units and local communities. He encouraged the delegates to actively contribute high-quality opinions to congress documents and to select worthy representatives for the 14th National Women’s Congress, contributing to its overall success.
He voiced confidence that female military personnel will continue to uphold the proud tradition of patriotism, solidarity, creativity, fidelity, and competence, making even greater contributions to the armed forces, national defence, and the safeguarding of the Fatherland, worthy of the heroic nature of the Việt Nam People’s Army.
