Togg Leads Türkiye’s EV Market, Surpassing Tesla and BYD in January–November Sales

Ankara, The Gulf Observer: Türkiye’s domestic electric vehicle (EV) brand Togg has emerged as the top-selling EV manufacturer in the country for the January–November period, outperforming global competitors Tesla and BYD, according to newly released data.
Togg recorded sales of 31,715 units, ahead of Tesla with 29,955 units and BYD with 17,639 units. The three leading brands together commanded 47.5% of Türkiye’s electric car market, with Togg alone accounting for nearly 20% during the period.
Overall car sales in Türkiye rose 10.96% year-on-year in the first 11 months, reaching 938,177 units, while sales of light commercial vehicles increased 7.13% to 238,603, according to the Automotive Distributors’ and Mobility Association (ODMD).
The data showed a significant shift in fuel preferences. Sales of gasoline-powered cars dropped 15.5% to 442,650 units, and diesel car sales fell 18.8% to 69,740 units. LPG-powered cars saw a 33.9% rise to 7,399 units. Hybrid cars surged 71.3% to 251,992 units.
EV sales — including extended-range models — jumped 111.4% to 166,665 units, representing a 17.8% market share in the January–November period. Fully electric cars’ share of the market rose from 9.2% to 17.6%, while hybrids increased from 17.4% to 26.9%.
In November alone, Togg reinforced its lead by selling 4,235 units, followed by Tesla with 2,535, BYD with 1,833, KG Mobility with 1,209, and Volvo with 1,189.
Combined sales of fully electric, extended-range electric, and hybrid vehicles totaled 418,657 units, making up 44.7% of the Turkish auto market. Plug-in hybrid sales surged 658.9% year-on-year to 42,857 units, accounting for 4.6% of all sales.
Among hybrid models, the BYD Seal U led with 23,131 units sold, followed by the Toyota C-HR (22,181), Nissan Qashqai (17,575), Peugeot 3008 (14,157), and Toyota Corolla Cross (11,072), the data showed.
