Tokayev and Serdar Berdimuhamedov Discuss Strategic Partnership
Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdimuhamedov engaged in closed-door negotiations to enhance bilateral cooperation between their countries. The discussions took place following a welcome ceremony held at the Oguzhan Presidential Palace, where the two leaders introduced their respective official delegations, as reported by NHC.
President Tokayev emphasized the significance of regular high-level meetings, which he described as a vital platform for expanding multifaceted cooperation. “For us, Turkmenistan is a very close country, a natural strategic partner. I would like to say that Kazakhstan has been and remains a reliable ally of Turkmenistan in all spheres mentioned by you—be it energy, transport, logistics, or cultural-humanitarian cooperation,” Tokayev stated. He underscored Kazakhstan’s respect for Turkmenistan’s neutral status in international affairs, acknowledging its contributions to regional and international security. “We are ready to closely interact with each other, first of all, within the UN and other international organizations,” he added.
In response, President Berdimuhamedov reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with Kazakhstan. “We are thankful to Kazakhstan for its firm support of Turkmenistan’s neutral foreign policy course as well as its international initiatives put forward within the UN and other international structures,” he remarked. He also expressed Turkmenistan’s support for Kazakhstan’s foreign policy and highlighted the importance of enhancing trade and economic ties between the two nations.
Both leaders recognized the need for continued collaboration in critical areas such as energy, transport, trade, agriculture, and high technologies. “The cultural and humanitarian ties are also of great importance in the relations between our countries,” Berdimuhamedov added.
Following the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed their readiness to persist in their joint efforts to further strengthen the friendly relations between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, setting a positive tone for future collaboration.
