Tokayev Calls for Digital and AI-Driven Transformation at Financial Monitoring Agency

Astana, The Gulf Observer: President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on Wednesday held a meeting at the Financial Monitoring Agency, where he congratulated the agency’s personnel on their professional holiday, Financial Monitoring Agencies Day, the Akorda press service said.
Addressing the meeting, the Head of State noted that the agency, established five years ago during a period of large-scale national transformation, has successfully fulfilled the tasks assigned to it and gained significant institutional experience in a relatively short time.
“Much work has been done over these years, and substantial experience has been accumulated. Today, the agency has established itself as a self-sustaining body playing a key role in ensuring economic and national security. This is a direct result of your efforts and dedication to duty,” President Tokayev said.
The President stressed the need for a fundamentally new approach to the agency’s work in light of rapid advances in digital technologies and artificial intelligence, noting that ambitious goals and large-scale tasks lie ahead.
He warned that national security risks could emerge if law enforcement bodies, including the Financial Monitoring Agency, lag behind in technological development.
“The large-scale adoption of digital approaches and artificial intelligence systems in the agency’s operations is an urgent and critically important task. Effective work is no longer possible without them,” Tokayev said, adding that the confrontation between law enforcement agencies and criminal networks has increasingly shifted into the technological domain, with criminals actively using artificial intelligence.
The President emphasized the importance of proactive action and well-considered decision-making to keep pace with emerging challenges. He said law enforcement agencies must rely on advanced digital solutions and act systematically to ensure both the speed and quality of the country’s ongoing reforms.
“This is especially important in the context of Kazakhstan’s large-scale economic transformation,” Tokayev said, underscoring the strategic role of the Financial Monitoring Agency in supporting sustainable development and national security.
