Tokayev Meets with Chairman of the Board of the EEC
Astana, The Gulf Observer: President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev convened a meeting with Bakytzhan Sagintayev, the newly appointed Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), as reported by Akorda.
President Tokayev extended warm congratulations to Sagintayev on assuming the esteemed position of Chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission, highlighting the importance of collaboration and cooperation within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
During the meeting, President Tokayev received comprehensive briefings on the focal areas of the Commission’s agenda, emphasizing the pivotal role of the EEC in fostering economic integration and facilitating the sustainable development of member states. Discussions also encompassed the ongoing partnership between Kazakhstan and the EEC, underscoring the nation’s commitment to active engagement and fruitful collaboration within the Eurasian framework.
Of particular significance was the deliberation on the formulation of an action plan for the realization of the Eurasian Economic Path Declaration until 2030 and 2045, aimed at charting a strategic trajectory for economic growth and regional prosperity. Additionally, preparations for the upcoming milestone meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, scheduled to convene in Moscow this May, were reviewed to ensure the advancement of key objectives and priorities of the Union.
Bakytzhan Sagintayev, appointed as the Chairman of the EEC Board on February 1 of this year, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role, further fortifying the Commission’s mandate to drive forward the EAEU’s agenda of economic cooperation and integration. Notably, on March 1, the EEC Council adopted a comprehensive package of amendments to the law of the EAEU on competition, reflecting the Commission’s proactive approach towards enhancing regulatory frameworks and fostering fair competition across member states.
The meeting between President Tokayev and Chairman Sagintayev reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s steadfast commitment to the principles of regional cooperation and economic integration within the Eurasian Economic Union, underscoring the nation’s proactive role in shaping the future of the Eurasian economic landscape.
