Tokayev, Vučić Hold Talks in Astana, Pledge Deeper Bilateral Cooperation

Astana, The Gulf Observer: Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and visiting Aleksandar Vučić held a joint press briefing on Friday following high-level talks at the Akorda presidential palace in Astana, according to the Kazakh presidency.
Addressing the media, President Tokayev expressed his gratitude to President Vučić and his delegation for accepting the invitation to pay an official visit to Kazakhstan’s capital. He described Serbia as a key and reliable partner of Kazakhstan in the Balkan region, emphasizing that bilateral cooperation is built on a solid foundation of friendship, mutual support, and shared interests.
The Kazakh leader recalled his visit to Belgrade two years ago, noting that agreements reached during that trip are being successfully implemented. He also highlighted that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Serbia, with President Vučić’s visit taking place on the eve of the milestone.
Over the past three decades, the two countries have developed a trust-based political dialogue at all levels, Tokayev said. He pointed to the strengthening of intergovernmental and interparliamentary ties, as well as the steady expansion of cooperation in trade, investment, and economic sectors. Cultural and humanitarian exchanges have also deepened, alongside enhanced coordination within international organizations.
President Tokayev underscored the significant role President Vučić has played in advancing bilateral relations, stating that his efforts are highly valued in Kazakhstan. During the visit, Tokayev awarded Vučić Kazakhstan’s highest state honor, the Order of Altyn Qyran, in recognition of his contribution to strengthening ties between the two nations.
The talks earlier in the day focused on reinforcing political dialogue, expanding trade and economic cooperation, and broadening cultural and humanitarian engagement. The two sides also signed a number of wide-ranging documents aimed at deepening bilateral collaboration.
