Trudeau Calls for Gaza Ceasefire, Urgent Aid on World Humanitarian Day
Ottawa, The Gulf Observer: On the occasion of World Humanitarian Day, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau issued a strong call for an immediate ceasefire and a substantial increase in humanitarian aid to Gaza. Highlighting the urgent need for international assistance, Trudeau described the situation in the region as “catastrophic.”
In his address, Trudeau reaffirmed Canada’s dedication to supporting those in need, emphasizing the country’s collaboration with key international organizations such as the United Nations, the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, and a variety of non-governmental organizations. He underscored the significance of these partnerships in delivering vital aid to affected areas.
“The crisis in Gaza is a dire humanitarian emergency,” stated Trudeau. “One region where humanitarian aid is most needed today is Gaza.”
In a significant move, Canada has pledged $165 million in aid to Gaza and the occupied West Bank, demonstrating its commitment to alleviating the suffering in these areas. Trudeau also reiterated the necessity of an urgent ceasefire, stressing the importance of protecting civilians, ensuring the release of hostages, and facilitating an increased flow of humanitarian aid throughout the region.
As global leaders and humanitarian organizations continue to respond to the crisis, Trudeau’s appeal serves as a reminder of the critical need for international cooperation and swift action to address the unfolding humanitarian disaster in Gaza.
