Trump Declares “Incredible Victory” in Acceptance Speech at Republican National Convention
Milwaukee, The Gulf Observer: Donald Trump, 78, predicted an “incredible victory” in his acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Friday, expressing confidence in a transformative presidential term. His remarks came amidst a backdrop of jubilation from his party, buoyed by his recent escape from an assassination attempt and the perceived unraveling of President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign.
In his first public address since a 20-year-old man shot at him during a rally last weekend—resulting in a wound to his ear and the death of a bystander—Trump recounted the harrowing incident with palpable emotion. Declaring that he had “God on my side,” he observed a moment of silence for the fallen firefighter Corey Comperatore, kissing the slain firefighter’s helmet on stage.
Trump’s acceptance was marked by fervent chants of “USA” from an enthusiastic crowd that had been lauding him throughout the week. In his speech, Trump declared, “Tonight, with faith and devotion, I proudly accept your nomination for president of the United States,” and committed to serving “all of America” rather than just part of it.
The convention featured a series of high-energy warm-up acts, including 1980s wrestling icon Hulk Hogan and far-right media figure Tucker Carlson, who described Trump’s survival as a historic event. Trump himself vowed to complete the US-Mexican border wall, denounced what he termed as the “destruction” and “misery” caused by an “invasion” of immigrants, and criticized President Biden’s climate change spending as a “scam.”
Despite promises from his aides that Trump would refrain from directly mentioning Biden, he did reference his opponent and criticized “the damage” Biden has inflicted.
