Trump Says Zelensky Eager for Deal to End War with Russia After Paris Meeting

Paris, The Gulf Observer: U.S. president-elect Donald Trump stated on Sunday that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed a strong desire for a deal to end the ongoing war with Russia following their meeting in Paris. The discussion took place during a three-way session hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace on Saturday, marking a significant moment nearly three years into Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, just ahead of Trump’s upcoming inauguration in January.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump emphasized that Zelensky and Ukraine were keen to reach an agreement to halt the conflict. “Zelensky and Ukraine would like to make a deal and stop the madness,” Trump wrote. “There should be an immediate ceasefire and negotiations should begin. Too many lives are being so needlessly wasted, too many families destroyed, and if it keeps going, it can turn into something much bigger, and far worse.”

The meeting in Paris marked the first face-to-face encounter between Zelensky and Trump since the latter’s victory in the November election, signaling potential shifts in international approaches to the conflict.
