Trump Signs Executive Orders on Immigration and Regulatory Reform

Washington, D.C., The Gulf Observer: On Wednesday, US President Donald Trump signed a series of executive orders aimed at addressing illegal immigration and reducing what the administration describes as regulatory overreach.

The first executive order seeks to prevent taxpayer dollars from supporting illegal immigration. It directs federal agencies to identify any federally funded programs that may be benefiting migrants residing in the country illegally. The White House also clarified that federal funds will not be allocated to “sanctuary” cities, which limit local law enforcement’s cooperation with federal immigration authorities. “With this Executive Order, President Trump is ensuring taxpayer resources are used to protect the interests of American citizens, not illegal aliens,” the White House stated.

In a separate move, President Trump ordered a comprehensive review of all federal regulations, instructing agency heads to collaborate with members of Elon Musk’s newly established Department of Government Efficiency. Any regulations found to conflict with the administration’s policies will either be rescinded or modified. The executive action is part of a broader effort to reduce government regulations and streamline federal operations. However, the initiative is currently facing legal challenges over its compliance with existing law.

Additionally, the executive orders target several advisory committees and agencies for elimination, in line with the administration’s ongoing efforts to curtail the influence of independent executive agencies. Among the entities slated for disbandment are the United States Institute for Peace, the Inter-American Foundation, and the US African Development Foundation, all of which support international and regional development programs.
