Turkish and Belgian Defense Ministers Discuss Bilateral Cooperation at IDEF 2025 in Istanbul

Istanbul, The Gulf Observer: Turkish National Defense Minister Yaşar Güler held a meeting with his Belgian counterpart Theo Francken on Tuesday, on the sidelines of the 17th International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF) 2025, to discuss the strengthening of bilateral defense and military cooperation.

The meeting took place during the opening day of IDEF 2025, a major six-day defense industry event being held simultaneously at the Istanbul Fair Center, Atatürk Airport, Wow Hotel, and Ataköy Marina. The fair is organized by KFA Fairs with the support of Türkiye’s Defense Industries Secretariat (SSB) and the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, with Anadolu Agency serving as the global communication partner.

“As two NATO allies, we exchanged views on what can be done to further advance our bilateral military relations as well as our cooperation in the defense industry,” said Minister Güler. He noted that the talks were held in a cordial and constructive atmosphere and built upon discussions the two officials had during the NATO Defense Ministers meeting in Brussels on June 5.

Minister Güler emphasized that both sides agreed on the importance of enhancing bilateral ties and expressed confidence that the recent uptick in high-level contacts would further boost relations across all sectors.

“I would like to express great pleasure at hosting my esteemed counterpart once again, and would also like to extend my greetings to the Belgian people on this occasion,” he added.

IDEF 2025 serves as a key platform for showcasing the latest innovations in defense technologies and facilitating strategic dialogue among global defense stakeholders.
