Turkish FM Highlights Türkiye’s Success in Combating Terrorism and Pursuing Peaceful Foreign Policy
Ankara, The Gulf Observer: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has lauded Türkiye’s remarkable achievements in combating terrorist organizations, reaching an unprecedented level of success. Speaking at the “Izmir Business World Gathering” event organized by the Izmir Chamber of Commerce, Minister Fidan outlined Türkiye’s multifaceted approach to addressing regional challenges and fostering peace and stability.
“We have reached an unprecedented level in our fight against terrorist organizations. There are three main elements of this success: Strong political leadership, our national strategic capabilities, and a new and constructive engagement process with our neighbors, especially Iraq,” remarked Minister Fidan during his address.
Expressing Türkiye’s unwavering determination to eliminate the roots of terrorism entirely, Minister Fidan emphasized the country’s commitment to eradicating terrorism’s sources while protecting its vital interests.
Fidan underscored the importance of consultation and collective wisdom in navigating global uncertainties, reiterating Türkiye’s primary objective of establishing peace, security, and stability in its surrounding regions.
Highlighting President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s vision of peace and development, Minister Fidan emphasized Türkiye’s efforts to facilitate peace processes in conflict zones such as Ukraine and Gaza, advocating for fair and lasting peace solutions.
Additionally, Minister Fidan emphasized Türkiye’s initiatives in promoting regional ownership and fostering peace and stability in the Balkans and South Caucasus.
Addressing Türkiye’s relations with Greece, Fidan stressed the importance of a positive agenda and proactive measures to address bilateral issues.
Minister Fidan also underscored the significance of economic relations, criticizing the lack of strategic contributions from allies like the US and EU in promoting peace and regional development. Despite challenges and biases, Minister Fidan reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to enhancing economic ties, focusing on increasing trade volume, direct investments, and diplomatic efforts towards updating the Customs Union with the European Union and achieving visa liberalization.
