Turkish Security Forces Neutralize Senior PKK Terrorist in Northern Iraq
Ankara, The Gulf Observe: Turkish security forces have successfully neutralized the alleged council leader of the PKK terrorist group, identified as Sedat Aksu, also known by the code name Sevger Ciya, during a targeted operation in northern Iraq’s Gara region.
As per insights gleaned from security sources on Monday, the Turkish National Intelligence Organisation (MIT) had discerned Aksu’s pivotal role in orchestrating terrorist activities against security forces across Turkiye, Syria, and Iraq. Aksu was purportedly involved in supplying weapons and ammunition to PKK operatives preparing for attacks within the Operation Claw-Lock zone.
The operation in the Gara region led to the neutralization of Aksu alongside other PKK affiliates. Aksu, who had been affiliated with the terrorist organization since 1998, reportedly operated as the self-proclaimed leader of the PKK in Iraq. Turkish authorities utilize the term “neutralize” to signify the surrender, killing, or capture of individuals associated with terrorist activities.
Notorious for utilizing northern Iraq as a sanctuary to plot and launch terror assaults on Turkiye, the PKK has long posed a significant security threat to the region.
Throughout its nearly four-decade-long campaign of terror against Turkey, the PKK, officially classified as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States, and the European Union, has inflicted irreparable harm, resulting in the loss of over 40,000 lives, including innocent civilians, women, children, and infants.
