Türkiye and UK Embark on $1.3 Billion High-Speed Railway Collaboration
Ankara, The Gulf Observer: Türkiye and the UK have solidified their economic ties through a $1.3 billion financing agreement for the construction of a cutting-edge high-speed electric railway line in central Türkiye.
The accord, celebrated during a meeting at the British Consulate General in Istanbul, was praised by Kemi Badenoch, the UK trade minister, as a substantial testament to the robust trading relationship between the two nations. Badenoch highlighted this as the third collaborative effort between the UK and Türkiye to advance sustainable large-scale transport projects.
She expressed delight over the €1.2 billion ($1.3 billion) financing for the transformative railway connecting Yerkoy and Kayseri. Emphasizing the environmental impact, Badenoch underscored that the project would significantly reduce carbon emissions by over 6,500 tons annually.
The endeavor will be executed by a joint venture comprising Turkish firms Dogus Construction, Celikler, and Ozkar, recognized for their role in the Ankara-Sivas High-Speed Railroad. Badenoch concluded by recognizing Türkiye’s vast opportunities for UK businesses, given its substantial economy and strategic geographical positioning.
