Türkiye Condemns Black Sea Attack on Oil Tanker ALTURA, Crew Reported Safe

Ankara, The Gulf Observer: Türkiye on Thursday expressed deep concern over an attack targeting the crude oil tanker ALTURA in the Black Sea, describing the incident as a serious threat to regional stability and maritime safety.
In a statement shared on the social media platform X, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Oncu Keceli confirmed that the vessel, which is operated by a Turkish company and sails under the Sierra Leone flag, was subjected to an ആക്രമation within the Black Sea.
Keceli stated that relevant Turkish authorities promptly carried out necessary inspections and technical interventions following the incident. He reassured that all 27 Turkish crew members on board the tanker are in good health and safe.
The spokesperson emphasized that such attacks, occurring within the Black Sea’s exclusive economic zone and in violation of international law, pose significant risks to human life, property, maritime navigation, and environmental security in the region.
Reaffirming Ankara’s commitment to regional peace, Keceli noted that Türkiye remains in close coordination with relevant parties to prevent further escalation and the potential spread of conflict across the Black Sea.
He further underscored that Türkiye reserves its right under international law to take all necessary measures to safeguard its economic interests and activities in the region.
