Türkiye Reaffirms Strong Support for Palestinian Cause on International Solidarity Day

Ankara, The Gulf Observer: Türkiye on Saturday marked the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, reaffirming its unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and the struggle for freedom, justice, and statehood.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, in a message shared on the social media platform NSosyal, reiterated Türkiye’s commitment to working toward a just and lasting peace.
“We will continue our efforts with the same determination to establish a just and lasting peace where our Palestinian brothers and sisters can live in freedom and prosperity,” he said.
Fidan emphasized that Ankara has provided its strongest support to date for the protection of Palestinian rights, stressing that the implementation of a two-state solution remains essential for enduring peace in the region.
In a separate statement, Türkiye’s Communications Director Burhanettin Duran said the day serves as a reminder of global responsibility.
“The International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People signifies being a voice for the oppressed, standing on the side of justice, and upholding humanity’s shared conscience,” he noted.
Duran said the long-standing occupation and oppression in Palestinian territories represent a test not just for one nation but for all humanity. He praised the resilience of the Palestinian people, describing their steadfastness as a symbol of justice, human dignity, and resistance.
He stressed that Türkiye does not view the Palestinian cause as a regional issue alone, but one that appeals to the conscience of the global community. He highlighted President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s strong and consistent stance against injustices faced by Palestinians, noting that Erdogan’s message — “the world is bigger than five” — challenges the shortcomings and double standards of the international system.
Duran reaffirmed that Türkiye continues to extend humanitarian aid and diplomatic support to Palestine, emphasizing that defending the basic rights of Palestinians in Gaza, the West Bank, and Al-Quds is a moral and legal duty for humanity.
Expressing confidence that justice will ultimately prevail, he said the courage displayed by Palestinians serves as a guiding light toward freedom, dignity, and peace.
“Until an independent and sovereign State of Palestine, with Al-Quds as its capital, is established, Türkiye will remain the strongest advocate of the Palestinian cause,” he added.
International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People
Observed annually on Nov. 29, the day highlights the Palestinian people’s enduring aspirations for peace, justice, and self-determination. Established by the United Nations in 1977, it commemorates UN General Assembly Resolution 181, which proposed the partition of Palestine into Jewish and Arab states, underscoring the longstanding quest for a just resolution.
