Türkiye Seeks Closer Cooperation with BRICS, Confirms Attendance at Summit in Russia
Ankara, The Gulf Observer: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has expressed Türkiye’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with BRICS, confirming the country’s participation in the upcoming summit in Kazan, Russia. Erdogan’s remarks were made on Tuesday, ahead of Türkiye’s attendance at the BRICS Extended Leaders’ Session on Wednesday, which will be hosted by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“BRICS nations, many of which are also members of the G20 like Türkiye, account for approximately 30 percent of the world’s landmass and 45 percent of its population,” Erdogan noted. He emphasized the significance of the BRICS bloc, highlighting that these nations are responsible for 40 percent of global oil production and 25 percent of the world’s goods exports.
“As Türkiye, we are sincerely seeking to strengthen our cooperation with BRICS,” Erdogan said, underlining Türkiye’s interest in deepening ties with the influential group, which consists of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.
