Turkmen President Confers “Ene mähri” Title on Mothers of Large Families

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: In a significant gesture recognizing the invaluable contributions of mothers to family life and society, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan signed a Decree during a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, conferring the honorary title “Ene mähri” on mothers of large families. This announcement, reported by Turkmen media, underscores the government’s commitment to acknowledging and appreciating the vital role played by mothers in preserving family values and fostering national unity.

President Berdimuhamedov, addressing the importance of the family institution, highlighted the crucial work undertaken by mothers in maintaining the sanctity of the family home, raising their sons and daughters with dignity, and contributing to the cohesion of Turkmen society. He expressed deep appreciation for the significant role of women, emphasizing that their efforts further elevate the standing of the Fatherland.

The honorary title “Ene mähri” was originally established in 2008 and is bestowed upon mothers who have given birth to and raised eight or more children. Recipients of this prestigious title receive a corresponding badge and certificate, along with a one-time remuneration equivalent to ten times the base amount calculated for pensions and benefits.

In addition to these recognitions, mothers honored with the title “Ene mähri” in Turkmenistan are entitled to various benefits as stipulated by the country’s legislation. These include privileges in cases and in the manner defined by Turkmenistan’s laws. Furthermore, recipients enjoy the right to free use of utilities, public transport, and other related services.
