Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: In a significant step towards deepening bilateral relations, a series of important documents were signed following talks between the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian. The ceremony, which took place in Ashgabat, marks a new chapter in the cooperation between the two neighboring countries.

Among the documents signed were:

  • A Cooperation Plan for 2025-2026 between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, aimed at enhancing diplomatic engagement and facilitating mutual interests in regional and international affairs.
  • A Memorandum of Understanding establishing sister port relations between the International Sea Port of Turkmenbashi and the Port of Amirabad. This agreement seeks to foster closer ties in maritime trade and port management, enhancing connectivity and trade efficiency between the two nations.
  • A Memorandum of Understanding between the State Concern «Türkmengaz» and the National Gas Company of Iran. This document outlines the framework for expanding cooperation in the natural gas sector, including the exploration of new opportunities for joint projects and the enhancement of existing infrastructure.
  • A Plan of Joint Activities for 2025-2026 between the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the Customs Administration of the Islamic Republic of Iran, aimed at deepening and expanding customs cooperation. This plan will facilitate smoother trade operations and ensure the security and efficiency of customs processes.

The signing of these agreements underscores the commitment of Turkmenistan and Iran to strengthening their strategic partnership, with a focus on promoting economic development, enhancing trade relations, and fostering regional stability.
