Turkmenistan and TURKSOY Discuss Cultural Collaboration

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: On September 3, 2024, a significant meeting took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan between Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and a delegation led by Sultan Raev, Secretary General of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY). The discussions centered on current issues of cooperation and explored promising areas for enhancing Turkmenistan’s partnership with TURKSOY.
The meeting highlighted 2024 as a pivotal year for Turkmenistan within the Turkic-speaking world, underscored by key themes recognized by TURKSOY. This year has been declared the “Year of the Great Poet and Thinker of the Turkic World – Magtymguly Fragi,” coinciding with the 300th anniversary of the birth of the eminent figure in Eastern literature. Additionally, the ancient Turkmen city of Anau has been designated as the cultural capital of the Turkic world for 2024.
The participants emphasized the importance of organizing upcoming joint events to promote the legacy of Magtymguly Fragi and to highlight the cultural significance of Anau. The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of the successful cooperation between Turkmenistan and TURKSOY, aimed at preserving, studying, and disseminating the rich cultural heritage of Turkic-speaking peoples globally.
