Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev concluded high-level talks with the signing of a Joint Statement that sets out key priorities for bilateral cooperation and reaffirms the two countries’ commitment to strengthening their strategic partnership, the press service of the President of Uzbekistan reported.

In the presence of both heads of state, a series of agreements and cooperation documents were exchanged, aimed at deepening collaboration in trade, economic development, and transport connectivity. Among the notable documents were an agreement on the operation of the Uzbek–Turkmen cross-border trade zone and a memorandum on cooperation for the supply of railway wagons designated for transporting petroleum products and liquid chemical cargo.

A substantial portion of the newly signed documents focused on humanitarian, medical, agricultural, and environmental cooperation. These included agreements in healthcare and medical science, a cultural cooperation program for 2026–2027, a “Roadmap” for collaboration in the forestry sector, and additional protocols strengthening intergovernmental agreements on emergency situations and road transport.

Interregional cooperation received particular emphasis during the talks. Agreements were signed between the Surkhandarya and Kashkadarya regions of Uzbekistan and the Lebap province of Turkmenistan, between Tashkent region and Ahal province, as well as between the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan and the administration of Dashoguz province. These partnerships aim to enhance cooperation across trade, economic, scientific-technical, and cultural-humanitarian domains.

The two leaders emphasized that the newly signed agreements reflect the growing momentum of Turkmen-Uzbek relations and will contribute to broader regional stability and development.
