Turkmenistan Appoints Vepa Hajiyev as Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov has appointed Vepa Segsengeldiyevich Hajiyev as the country’s new Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, according to the state news program Watan Habarlary.
The decision was announced during a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers held on Friday.
Under the presidential decree, Aksoltan Atayeva Toreyevna was relieved of her duties as Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the United Nations in New York. She also stepped down from her additional roles as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to Cuba, Brazil, and Venezuela due to her transfer to another position.
Meanwhile, Vepa Hajiyev was appointed to the UN post after being relieved of his previous responsibilities as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Swiss Confederation, Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva, and Ambassador to the Vatican.
Hajiyev is a seasoned diplomat who previously served for many years as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan before being appointed to diplomatic posts in Geneva and Switzerland.
During the cabinet meeting, the government also reviewed a number of other key issues related to state affairs, with relevant decisions adopted following discussions.
The appointment reflects Turkmenistan’s continued engagement with the United Nations and its efforts to strengthen diplomatic representation at the global level.
