Turkmenistan Champions Women’s Leadership Ahead of LLDC3 Conference in Avaza

Avaza, The Gulf Observer: As part of the upcoming Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3), scheduled to take place from August 4 to 8 in the “Avaza” National Tourist Zone, a high-level meeting of women leaders will underscore the essential role of women’s leadership in addressing today’s global challenges, particularly those faced by landlocked developing nations.
According to the State News Agency of Turkmenistan, the country places special emphasis on advancing the role of women in national development. In this context, the Women’s Union of Turkmenistan, one of the largest public organizations in the country, continues to serve as a powerful force in supporting and implementing progressive reforms.
The prominent role of Turkmen women in society reflects both the level of development and the steady democratization process underway in the country. Core indicators of social progress, including maternal and child health, family welfare, and support for large families, illustrate Turkmenistan’s strong commitment to democratic values and national traditions.
Women in Turkmenistan also make meaningful contributions to combating climate change, environmental protection, and addressing urgent issues across the socio-economic, cultural, humanitarian, healthcare, and education sectors. The government continues to establish favorable conditions for women to live with dignity and actively contribute to the nation’s creative and developmental endeavors.
Turkmenistan is currently implementing its second National Action Plan for Gender Equality (2021–2025). This key document supports the broader goal of increasing women’s participation across all sectors of state and society. It emphasizes sustainable development, economic stability, and gender equality, while also promoting targeted programs for the protection of motherhood and childhood, and providing social support for large families.
The meeting of women leaders at LLDC3 is set to highlight the international community’s recognition of women’s growing contributions to political, socio-economic, and cultural-humanitarian processes. By showcasing women’s leadership, the meeting aims to reinforce progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), enhance regional and global stability, and strengthen peace and trust among nations.
The LLDC3 conference will bring together high-level representatives from governments, international organizations, and civil society to develop strategies that address the unique challenges faced by landlocked developing countries and to advance sustainable and inclusive development.
