Turkmenistan, ECO Foundation Discuss Boosting Scientific and Technical Cooperation

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Myakhri Bashimova, held a meeting with Professor Seyed Komail Tayebi, President of the Scientific Foundation of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), to discuss key areas of scientific and technical collaboration, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported.

During the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening scientific cooperation and implementing joint initiatives in the fields of science, technology, and innovation. These efforts, they noted, would play a crucial role in fostering sustainable economic growth and advancing regional integration among ECO member states.

Particular emphasis was placed on the role of scientific collaboration as an effective tool for promoting mutual understanding between nations, facilitating the transfer of advanced technologies, and contributing to the achievement of shared development objectives.

The discussions highlighted several priority areas for partnership, including energy development—particularly in renewable energy—environmental research and protection, innovations in agriculture and water resource management, and the digitalization of various sectors through the adoption of modern information technologies.

Both parties expressed a strong commitment to further strengthening collaboration within the ECO framework, enhancing the scientific capacity of member countries, and contributing to long-term sustainable development across the region.
