Turkmenistan Marks Four Years of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov’s Leadership

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: Turkmenistan on Thursday marked four years since the election and inauguration of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, according to state media reports.
The anniversary highlights a leadership transition initiated by National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who had advocated for the promotion of a younger generation of leaders with modern, forward-looking perspectives and strong educational backgrounds capable of guiding the nation’s future.
Presidential elections were held on March 12, 2022, on a competitive basis in line with national electoral legislation and widely recognized international legal standards. Serdar Berdimuhamedov secured victory with a majority of votes cast.
He was formally inaugurated on March 19, 2022, during a ceremony at the Ruhyyet Palace in Ashgabat. In his inaugural address, Berdimuhamedov pledged to honor the trust placed in him by the Turkmen people through dedicated efforts aimed at ensuring national prosperity, strengthening state institutions, and improving the well-being of citizens.
Under Berdimuhamedov’s leadership, Turkmenistan has continued to pursue its long-standing policy of neutrality, reaffirming its commitment to peace, good neighborly relations, and mutually beneficial international cooperation.
According to Article 68 of the Constitution of Turkmenistan, the president serves as the head of state and executive authority, as well as the highest official in the country.
