Turkmenistan Participates in Second OTS Heads of Government Meeting in Baku

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Nokerguly Atagulyyev participated in the Second Meeting of the Heads of Government/Vice Presidents of the member states of the Organization of Turkic States, held in Baku on April 2, 2026, bringing together senior leaders and representatives from member and observer countries, as well as international institutions.
The high-level gathering focused on expanding multilateral cooperation, strengthening economic ties, and advancing collaboration in key sectors including transport and logistics, trade, investment, digital economy, energy, and sustainable development.
Participants underscored the importance of deepening economic integration among Turkic states, implementing joint infrastructure initiatives, and enhancing cooperation in industry, agriculture, and innovation. Emphasis was also placed on fostering business linkages and creating favorable conditions to boost mutual trade.
In his address, Nokerguly Atagulyyev highlighted the significance of strengthening multilateral cooperation based on shared historical and cultural ties, mutual trust, and longstanding traditions among Turkic nations. He stressed the need for coordinated efforts in ensuring international security and sustainable development, as well as active engagement within global platforms, particularly the United Nations.
The Turkmen official also emphasized the importance of expanding trade and economic cooperation, enhancing investment partnerships, and improving transport and logistics infrastructure. He specifically noted the strategic relevance of developing international corridors, including East-West and North-South routes, as well as the Trans-Caspian and Lapis Lazuli corridors.
Energy cooperation was identified as a key priority, with participants stressing the need for reliable and diversified energy supplies. Cultural and humanitarian exchanges were also highlighted as essential for strengthening unity and mutual understanding among the peoples of the Turkic world.
Turkmenistan reaffirmed its readiness to further expand partnerships across all these areas.
Following the meeting, participants adopted decisions aimed at strengthening multilateral cooperation and advancing joint projects within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States.
Separately, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received the heads of delegations attending the meeting. During the reception, he emphasized the importance of enhancing unity among Turkic countries, expanding economic and investment cooperation, and developing transport and logistics networks, including the Middle Corridor and the Trans-Caspian Corridor.
The Baku meeting marked a significant step toward advancing regional cooperation and strengthening partnerships among Turkic states.
