Turkmenistan Prepares for 80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: Turkmenistan has officially begun preparations to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945. During a regular Cabinet meeting on Friday, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Bayramgul Orazdurdiyeva outlined the national preparations for the significant anniversary, as reported by official media.

As part of the celebrations, a series of patriotic events will take place throughout the country and in the capital, Ashgabat. These include discussions, musical gatherings, exhibitions, and solemn flower-laying ceremonies at various memorials and monuments dedicated to the war’s heroes. The Halk Hakydasy memorial complex, provincial military glory monuments, and the statue of the soldier and patriot Berdimuhammet Annayev will be among the key sites for these commemorations.

In addition to these public events, veterans and workers of the home front will be honored with commemorative gifts. Orazdurdiyeva highlighted that the country’s leadership places great importance on recognizing the contributions of these individuals who played vital roles during the war.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, after reviewing the report, emphasized the crucial task of instilling patriotism, courage, and respect for the heroic deeds of past generations, especially among the younger population. The President instructed officials to ensure that the commemorative events are held to the highest standards and that appropriate gifts are presented to veterans and mothers who made significant contributions on the home front during the war.

The Cabinet meeting also addressed a number of other national issues, ensuring the continued development and prosperity of the country.

This anniversary marks a significant moment in Turkmenistan’s history, honoring the bravery and sacrifice of the nation’s heroes during one of the most pivotal conflicts of the 20th century.
